Friday, February 24th, 2017, Dr. Caprice Hollins and Ilsa Govan of Cultures Connecting will host a workshop about talking with children and youth about race.
In this workshop, Caprice and Ilsa will guide participants in explorations of how young people in early childhood through their teen years are socialized to practice racism and privilege. Participants will learn strategies to teach youth how to stand up and confront bias they encounter, skills all the more important with the increased level of bullying and hate speech since the recent presidential election.
The workshop will take place from 8:30am to 4:30pm at the 2100 building. Breakfast and light refreshments are included with registration. Registration is $150 before February 3rd and $175 after. Clock hours, STARS credits, and CEUs are available.
